The XC90 Polestar from Volvo might have 450 HP

Volvo with a 450-hp powerplant may find the chance to develop the XC90 Polestar offering.

The Swedish company began from a 2.0-litre V4 engine. It has joined a supercharger and two turbochargers to the motor. In such a way, it is able to generate 450 hp in an unorthodox fashion. The automaker made its tests on the engine in an S60 sedan. According to the reports, it may be used for Polestar units. The Volvo XC90 Polestar seems to fit this scheme perfectly well.

Not long ago the automaker has received the tuning division. It is responsible for creating units with the Polestar nameplate. We believe that the 450-hp triple-charged unit will equip a high-performance version of Volvo’s latest offering.

The prototype mill is equipped with a 48-volt supercharger. It takes place upstream from two BorgWarner turbochargers. In the result, we receive a powerful crossover model in a competitive segment.
