Self-Driving Ubers Face A Problem With The State Of California
The state of California stripped Uber cars of proper registration and the automaker has halted the self-driving ride program on the streets of San Francisco.
The California DMV revoked its registration on the producer’s 16 self-driving cars. This forced the ride-sharing company to stop the program.
The DMV has earlier sent the company written warnings. It suggested that the program is against the law because the automaker did not obtain the correct permits for testing self-driving vehicles in the state. The company denied the accusations. Uber stated that the permits were not needed because their cars are constantly supervised by an engineer.
According to the company’s head of Advanced Technologies Group, self-driving Uver cars operate just like the cars that feature advanced driver assist technologies, such as Tesla auto-pilot etc.
