Concept XC from Volvo to Be Presented in Detroit

January 2014 will be the date of Volvo showing its XC Concept.

Meanwhile the company has issued preview photos of XC Coupé concept. Some elements of design will be repeated in XC90 waiting for the release at the end of 2014. With XC-type cars forming the cornerstone of the lineup, Concept XC will be a basis for subsequent design development, Volvo reports.

The company earlier announced that three variants, the products of new design solutions, will be launched. Thomas Ingenlath, new head of design department, has shown the results of the second concept development so far, presented by new XC. The first of them was Concept Coupé shown in Frankfurt and featured Scalable Platform Architecture, an innovation by Volvo, simultaneously hinting on the design direction of subsequent cars.

Safety technology will be mated with traditional company’s design in Concept XC, says Volvo.
