Ambitious Plans for America Revealed by Volvo
Having enough time to prepare production versions after several concepts presented in 2013, Volvo has set the goal to complete them during three years.
North American branch of Volvo is vested with the responsibility to cover a full percent of the American market. Time frame of the task is defined by 5 years. The pioneer of the endeavour is already chosen – it will be XC90 due to appear in the early 2015. CEO of the brand explained that eventually this model will be considered the oldest product of Volvo. According to the plan, the start will be slow – the first mark to achieve is only 2,000 units more than sold last year. By 2019 the number will almost triple to 160,000 vehicles.
In spite of being the pioneer, XC90 will not obtain Drive-E motor technology under the bonnet. Volvo’s boss also explained the corporate view of the future of engines. He expresses a general opinion implying that supercharge is more effective than the quantity of cylinders in terms of performance boost and rational fuel consumption. The ambitious plan of the Swedish carmaker mentions a new American release every 12 or even 6 months.
Volvo has also shed some light at the US future of V40. Unfortunately, no engineering innovations are planned to be implemented in the construction of the wagon soon, which means that the country will unlikely get access to it. The closest possibility is only the release of mid-cycle modification not earlier than in 2016. If facelifted V40 gets to the States, it will be sold in one of 304 dealerships.
