Volkswagen Will Stop Producing the Eos in May or June of 2015
Volkswagen has stated about the “death” of the Eos in May or June of 2015.
More than two years has passed after the company warned about the demise of this model with low sales. They will probably stop its production in May or June of this year. The production of the vehicle lasted during nine years. Nearly 230,000 cars were built during this period of time. The hard top convertible is gathered at a factory in Setubal, Portugal. The automaker also assembles the Sharan, Scirocco and Seat Alhambra there.
The Eos was launched nine years ago at the time when folding hardtop convertibles were in trend. Though, shortly after that the market plummeted and that is why the offering never took off. The replacement should not be expected as the convertible market is still not large. Therefore, it looks like the automaker will prioritize creation of more SUVs and crossovers.
The internal documents state that Volkswagen will accept final orders for the Eos from clients at the end of March.
