VW CrossBlue Coupe Going to 2013 LA Auto Show
VW will take its CrossBlue Coupe Concept, which was first uncovered earlier this year in Shanghai, to the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Including a hybrid powertrain with 416 hp, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept is capable of reaching 70 MPGe while seating 5 comfortably. It is based on the German comapny’s new MQB architecture and includes a plug-in V6 hybrid drivetrain. In electric mode only, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept can ride up to 13 miles. The V6 powerplant provides 296 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, but when the couple of electric engines turn on, the CrossBlue Coupe Concept has 517 lb-ft of torque.
With a top speed of 148 mph and a 0-60 time of 5.8 sec, the CrossBlue Coupe model surely shows off what is possible in VW’s future. No longer are hybrids boring, eco-friendly vehicles – but rather functional cars that can not only carry plenty and look sharp, but provide performance comparable to gasoline cars. Inside, VW has equipped the CrossBlue Coupe Concept with a ton of technology, bragging that the vehicle simply “comes to life” once the driver’s door is opened.
Expect more details on the VW CrossBlue Coupe Concept when it officially debuts next week.
