VW Alltrack Scheduled for U.S. Kick Off in 2014
VW is aimed to compete versus the Subaru Outback with an all-wheel-drive, Golf-based Jetta SportWagen due in the U.S. in late 2014.
The German company has approved the vehicle, with sources informing that it will be similar to the Alltrack model uncivered at the 2012 New York Auto Show, meaning the all-wheel-drive model will have top ground clearance and body cladding.
VW, which currently offers a Passat Alltrack in Australia, is going to steal away some of the Outback’s market share, which is Subaru’s top-selling model in the U.S. If the German company can keep costs down on the all-wheel-drive version, it could compete with the Subaru Outback, which is priced from $23,495 featuring destination fee.
Nowadays, the VW Jetta SportWagen in front-wheel-drive form costs $21,390.
