Tesla May Prepare a Fully Autonomous Vehicle in 2 Years
Most automakers have spoken about a fully autonomous car. However, they are still several years off. Meanwhile Elon Musk, the CEO at Tesla, announced that a fully autonomous vehicle is only two years away.
In his conversation with Fortune, the CEO shared his thoughts. He considers that the company has got all the pieces. Everything is about those pieces refining, putting them in a proper place and assuring they work across a vast range of environments.
The CEO concedes government might refuse to sign off the vehicle. According to him, they might wait for approval from 1 to 5 years in some jurisdictions.
Musk suggests that vehicles could start logging data during this period of time. In such a way it will be possible to see if an accident could have happened under condition of the fully autonomous mode. When there is enough data and it is statistically understood that autonomous technology is safer, the CEO is sure the regulators will approve fully autonomous cars.
