Repairs begin for 135,000 Tesla models
Representatives of the company Tesla announced a recall campaign which concerns 134 951 electric cars.
According to Reuters, the company was obliged to launch a large-scale service campaign by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) due to numerous car owners' numerous complaints about malfunctioning the touchscreen. Tesla itself says it immediately agreed to the requirement.
The Wall Street Journal writes that the recall affects the 2012-2018 Model S liftback and 2016-2018 Model X crossovers. The service action is the terrible performance of the multimedia sensor, which sometimes disengages unexpectedly. NHTSA considers the problem to be a severe threat to driver safety with other road users.
The recall campaign is scheduled to start on 30 March. Each car will receive the latest software for the multimedia system.
