American thieves prefer to steal something as popular and widespread as Honda Accord, not paying attention to a whole bunch of other models.
An agency in the USA counted the most and least popular cars among the thieves using their calculation per 1,000 assembled cars. The lowest claim frequency of 2013 unites eight “losers”, including VW Tiguan, Honda CR-V, Lexus HS 250h and five more vehicles from different carmakers. Claim frequency of them all is 0.4, while the average number totals a little more than 3.50.
This year’s figures reveal the EV Tesla Model S to be the safest from theft with the index showing only 0.15. On the one hand, there are physically less vehicles of this model on the American streets. However, it also should be noted that are too new, so they retain the warranty. The most likely reason for the current theft-safety figure is low popularity of detail retail sale.
