600-Mile Range is Possible by 2017, says Tesla CEO
Elon Musk, the CEO at Tesla, is sure that a 600-mile all-electric range will be possible in two years.
In his interview with Danish program, the CEO assures that Tesla will manage to create a car with a 1,000 km range. Musk is sure that the company will cope with this task in a year or two. He pointed out the fact that the Model S P85D held a 452.8 mile drive on a single charge averaging 24.2 mph.
In future, a range of 745 miles should be reached by 2020. Tesla is going to sell half-a-million EVs by that year. Speaking about the brand’s Autopilot autonomous driving technologies, Musk revealed that the automaker is still in the stage of beta tests. The automaker is expected to show some technology in October. The first stage of the rollout includes an automated passing function.
The CEO is sure that fully autonomous units will be seen in three years. Though, he admits that it will take one more year or two to get it legalized by federal regulators.
