The Clio RS 220 Trophy from Renault has cracked a Record on Nurburgring
The Clio RS 220 Trophy from Renault has cracked an outstanding record for B-segment car around the Nürburgring.
As far as we know, Honda Civic Type R has the fastest lap record for a four-wheel drive vehicle on the German track. The French automaker has proven than the model under consideration is the fastest small hatch in B-segment on the circuit. The pocket-rocket lapped the track in only 8:32 minutes. This makes it faster than the regular Clio RS 200 EDC by 36 seconds.
The testing was conducted by Christian Gebhardt, the editor of Sport Auto. By the way, he also lapped the Nürburgring with a few other B-segment hatches. The latest Opel Corsa OPC registered 8:40 minutes and took the third place. The second place was given to the MINI JCW with 8:35 minutes. The Audi S1 was the last one to complete the ring in 8:41 minutes.
We remind you that the Clio RS 220 Trophy was unveiled at the Motor Show held in Geneva. The model is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol unit. It is able to generate 220 hp (or 162 kW) and torque of 192 lb-ft (or 260 Nm). The car benefits from a returned EDC automatic transmission. It provides as much as 40% quicker gear shifts when driven in Normal mode. Meanwhile, in Race mode, it provides up to 50%.
