Is Renault Cheating? 700,000 Cars have Diesel Issues
Renault does not want to be involved in a kind of Volkswagen diesel scandal.
The cars of the French producer are not sold in North America. However, the Renault Captur is under a recall in Europe now. The pollution-control set-ups on 15,800 vehicles have to be fixed. Moreover, almost 700,000 cars will face a voluntary emissions-system upgrade. At this moment the recall features 110-hp diesel-powered Captur crossover.
The motor software patch is intended to reduce NOx emissions. Owners of the cars with the new Euro 6 gen of diesel engines. The boss competitive officer at Renault says that the brand is not cheating. According to him, Renault is meeting the norms and us not trying to trick the consumer.
The producer admitted that there are possible adjustments. The details about improvements to the cars with Euro 6-compliant diesel engines should come out in March. Four months later the owners will be offered voluntary check-ups of the engine.
The government of France started an investigation concerning diesel vehicles in September after VW confessed about cheating on diesel emissions tests. There were almost 11 million affected vehicles sold around the globe. The country’s probe decided to test 100 randomly chosen cars. There were 25 Renault units among them. The French manufacturer that there will be no further recalls.
Fixing the filters in the model under consideration will take nearly 30 minutes a day per motor.
