Fuel Consumption Record set by Peugeot 208 with 2.0 l/100 km
Peugeot has confirmed that the 208 equipped with a BlueHDi diesel motor has set a new record.
A 1,337.19 mile (or 2,152 km) distance was covered by the vehicle only with 9.45 gallons (or 43 litres). This makes an average fuel consumption of 141.2 mpg (or 2.01/100 km). Peugeot considers this record to be the evidence of the latest Euro6 BlueHDi Diesel engines’ technological excellence. The record also confirms the contribution to the decreasing of CO2 emissions.
These performance characteristics were reached at the second part of April. The record was set on a test circuit at Belchamp in France. The event was superintended by UTAC, the French Type Approval Authority. The vehicle which was used to set a record was an exactly regular production 208. The vehicle boasts a 1.6-litre BlueHDi 100 S&S motor. The engine is joined to a five-speed manual transmission. The vehicle ran for 38 hours. There were several drivers at the helm. The drivers changed each other after a turn of 3 to 4 hours at the steering wheel.
