Nissan Leaf Battery Substitute Program to be Launched
Nissan has informed about its Leaf battery substitute program for U.S. customers, which will start during the first half of 2014.
The program will work together with the Japanese brand’s regular battery warranty for the Leaf which is a 5 year, 60,000-mile coverage versus battery capacity loss and 8 years, 100,000 miles versus defects. Despite expecting the majority of Leaf drivers to never have to substitute their batteries, Nissan organized a global survey which unveiled Leaf owners preferred a monthly payment program and demanded assurances that the battery will save its capacity at a top level.
All batteries placed under the fresh program will enjoy coverage similar to the regular battery coverage available under the Nissan New Electric Vehicle Limited Warranty and is assured to save at least 9 bars of capacity, or approximately 70 %. Customers will also get protection from defects in detils or workmanship for the time clients stay in the battery program.
The Nissan Leaf battery substitute program will cost around $100 per month and will start in the first half of next year and will be controlled by Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation.
“Technology is developing and battery costs are projected to reject as EVs become too mainstream,” told Erik Gottfried, Nissan’s Head of Electric Car Deliveries and Marketing. “Therefore, this fresh battery program nowadays affords more flexibility for the future so that clients can both enhance to the newest available technology for their LEAF and enjoy more predictable car operating costs.”
