Nissan Jukes Leaves Manuals Behind
The Nissan Juke is not going to offer a third pedal for the 2015 model year.
While such performance models as Nismo and Nismo RS can be obtained with a six-speed manual gear box and front wheel drive configuration, the automaker is ushering out the manual for the more pedestrian sets.
The 2015 model year starts a mid-cycle revision of the sub-compact vehicle. Customers were able to choose a manual in the SUV version earlier. Non-performance variants of the offering will be available with “Xtronic” variable gear box from Nissan now.
The Juke is not the only longstanding brand in the American market of the vehicles featuring automatic gear boxes. Lexus has also objected the manual variant of IS compact sport sedan in its new generation. They said that regular transmission was accounted for a small fraction of sales in the last generation.
Acura abandoned manual gear box along with cutting the six-speed stick from the ILX as a part of serious revision recently. The innovated vehicle is equipped with the 2.4-litre V4 engine and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic powerplant, identically to the bigger TLX. The last one has also lent the car an improved fuel efficiency and increase in power.
Though, manual gear boxes are not completely out of business yet.
Honda is going to introduce its innovated HR-V which is a part of the Juke’s segment. It will arrive in spring of 2015. There will be given an opportunity to choose between a manual and an automatic gear box to customers.
