Mini Unveils Its First Electric John Cooper Works Vehicles
Mini has recently refreshed its entire lineup, introducing new trim levels. Among these updates, the company has unveiled the John Cooper Works Electric and John Cooper Works Aceman models, marking Mini's first foray into performance electric vehicles. Both vehicles are front-wheel-drive and feature a single motor with 255 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The JCW models also come with a boost function that temporarily increases power output. Additionally, they receive upgraded brakes and high-grip tires for enhanced performance. While the JCW trim level may cause confusion due to their resemblance to the regular versions, the true performance models can be distinguished by their wheels, JCW logos, and red accents. These electric JCW models are manufactured by Spotlight Automotive, a joint venture between BMW Group and Great Wall Motor in China. Currently, they are exclusively built in China, but from 2026, Mini plans to produce them in the UK. The electric JCW models are being showcased at the 2024 Paris Motor Show, with plans for future gas-powered JCW models as well.
