A New Sedan Instead of Mini Superleggera

The Mini Superleggera concept was presented almost 2 years ago. Rumours about a production version have been speculating since then. Though, it looks like the automaker is considering a new sedan instead.

MINI boss revealed speaking with Automotive News that this is possible. However, it is a difficult task to make a business case for the offering as it would be rather costly and have a low volume. The CEO also proved halo vehicles to be not always great economically.

The chief hinted at a more possible sedan. He considers it to have the highest potential and to be volume-wise. The company will decide sometime later in 2016. The result offering will be the 5th car in the producer’s range.

The executive also confirmed intentions for a plug-in-hybrid version and an EV. The first one is scheduled to come out in two years. The EV will arrive sometime later as the brand wants to see the result of battery technology development.
