Next-gen A-Class and B-Class family from Mercedes could have 8 New Members
Mercedes-Benz is not abandoning an expanded family of cars based on MFA.
The automaker was said to go down market with its more easily affordable offerings, for example, the models originated on the MFA (Modular Front-wheel drive Architecture). Though, such offerings proved to be a big success for the producer as they seriously increase its profits. Now the Daimler-owned brand is considering an opportunity of adding other offerings in the A-Class, B-Class, GLA, CLA and CLA Shooting Brake.
If new offerings will receive green light, they will move on the 2nd-gen of the MFA platform probably in three years. Thomas Weber, who is a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, says that the range could be expanded up to eight units. He made a hint on a probable candidate. Weber assures that one more crossover can become a part of the GLA, though the decision has not been approved yet. An entry-level cabrio placed under the coming-soon SLC and an Audi A3 Sedan-rivalling sedan variant of became known as 4-door coupe CLA are also probable.
Finally, we remind you that Mercedes-Benz will gain profits from the MFA platform as it is going to allow Infiniti to equip its QX30 crossover and Q30 hatchback with it. Both these offerings will come out till the end of 2015.
