Mercedes will Develop a Platform for Electric Vehicle
Mercedes-Benz is starting to develop an innovated platform which will be able to become a base for a whole line of electric vehicles.
The modular architecture will become the basis for cars embracing a large line-up of wheelbases. It will aim on saving weight and, in such a way, compensate having heavy electric engine parts, says a report of AutoBild. Now, the “Ecoluxe” platform is probably slated to be used for four body designs.
EV is formed on the Ecoluxe architecture which will give power to the back. It will also use four-wheel starring which improves handling. This report says that the first variant will be able to produce 544 or 604 hp in the initial and S models respectively.
The battery will be placed under the passenger cab. It will carry the car for a minimum of 279 miles.
The automaker will probably release the first Ecoluxe-based car either in 2019 or in 2020 in Europe. Shortly after that there will be a North American launch in case the gossiped programme will survive.
