Expect Mercedes ELC in 2018
A recent report claims that Mercedes is going to launch a new ELC crossover in the second part of 2018.
According to Autobild, the offering will be originated on the GLC. Though, it will have outstanding design with a stress on aerodynamics. The changes in styling will probably be pretty dramatic. The publication writes that only the windows and roof will be the same as in the regular vehicle.
The automaker has not revealed the vehicle’s specifications yet. The aforementioned publication reports that the car will benefit from a flat battery mounted on the floor. Besides, it will be equipped with two electric mills. This set-up will give the vehicle power to generate 536 hp (or 400 kW) and a range of more than 248 miles (or 400 km). There probably will be a wireless recharging system. At this point we do not know how long it will take to recharge the batteries.
The ELC will be a competitor to the Audi Q6 e-tron. Its price will stand somewhere near $54,600 (or €50,000).
If everything is correct, the Mercedes ELC will have a serious competition with its rival, as the Q6 e-tron is expected to output 500 hp (or 372 kW) and its range stands at more than 310 miles (or 499 km).
