Pictures of McLaren 650 Spider Can-Am
McLaren Newport Beach has shown the first photos of the 650S Spider Can-Am. The vehicle under consideration is of a limited edition.
The Can-Am racing series will celebrate the 50th anniversary in 2016. The company is going to develop a special variant of the 650S Spider through its MSO division. The vehicle reminds of the automaker’s racing vehicles from the late 60s. The clients will have a chance to order the model of a Papaya Spark or an Onyx Black colour. The corresponding racing livery will be added.
Besides the new outlook, the model’s hardtop was created from carbon fibber. It can be considered as a novelty for the offering. An innovated polished stainless steel exhaust set-up has a quad exit incorporated in a different carbon fibber rear enclosure. Sure, it gives a new soundtrack.
The engine choice was not a new one, therefore expect the model to be equipped with the 3.8-litre eight-cylinder twin turbocharged motor generating 650 hp (or 478 kW) and torque of 678 Nm (or 500 lb-ft). The vehicle will accelerate to 62 mph (or 100 km/h) in 3 seconds. Its top speed stands at 204 mph (or 329 km/h).
McLaren will output only 50 vehicles. Its UK branch will sell the model for £255,850. Customers who do not want this special edition should wait for the stronger 675LT Spider in 2016.
