McLaren Will Double Asia Deliveries in 2013
McLaren informed that its deliveries will more than double in Asia this year, thanks to the top demand in China.
Though total construction won’t change a lot this year from the brand’s estimated 1,400 models worldwide, McLaren estimates that Asia’s part of its overall deliveries will increase from 10 % in 2012 to 25 % current year. The British brand is doing to open its first 4 dealerships in China current year and will add another 4 in the first half of 2014.
According to McKinsey & Co., luxury vehicle deliveries in China will possibly pass sales in the U.S. by 2016. It’s worth noting that the Chinese government is mulling over a 20 % consumption tax on super-luxury cars that are priced more than $278,000. Even so, McLaren’s Asia Pacific regional chief, Mirko Bordiga, hopes such a tax would only affect McLaren deliveries in China in the short period.
