Mazda6 Restores Diesel Competitions
A few days ago, the Grand-Am Racing series goes to Indianapolis Auto Speedway for the Brickyard Grand Prix and will tag the very first time a diesel vehicle has run at the legendary track since the 1952 Indianapolis 500.
The Mazda6 diesel racing vehicle is the first diesel-enhanced model to compete at Indianapolis Auto Speedway since the Cummins Diesel Special raced in 1952. The Mazda racing vehicle has been competitive so far this year in the Grand-Am GX Class, claiming 4 first places and a couple of 2nd-place finishes.
Enhanced by a refreshed 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D diesel motor, the Mazda6 racer includes 400 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. Mazda6 diesel model is will be available in America by late 2013 and will have about 165 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.
