European Web Appearance of Festive 2016 Mazda2
The freshest unreleased modification of a compact Mazda2 was caught by spy cameras during a European test drive. Its joyous zebra finish does not tell much except for the fact that the carmaker keeps the exterior undisclosed. Yet, some details can be made out.
Direct DNA connection can be traced between the subcompact and Hazumi concept presented in Geneva in March. Common elements of the two vehicles include the form of the broad-smiling grille and peculiar headlamps.
In the profile test version of Mazda2 looks amazingly resembling to the aforementioned design study. The shape of wheels, which is exactly the same as Hazumi’s, only proves the point.
Modified Skyactiv architecture was used by the brand on this vehicle. In this light, solid steel is expected to be the most widely used body metal in Mazda2.
In the powertrain department one should anticipate a small V4 motor developing approximately 115 hp. Gearbox will most likely be offered as a manual for six speeds and CVT.
A Mexican site is chosen as an assembly line for Mazda2, and it will start construction of the car this autumn.
