Axing of Maserati GranTurismo Convertible
Maserati is working on an innovated GranTurismo, but the customers hoping for a drop-top will be upset.
A report from Car Magazine states that the 2018 GranTurismo is going to be sportier than the current model. It assures that the CEO, Harald Wester, himself states about the innovated cars niche market for enthusiasts of hard core. He denotes that the cabriolet is intended mostly to Americans.
Maserati CEO tells that the citizens of America love it, though one major market alone cannot generate the needed volume. He revealed that the new coupe will be agile, responsive, and nimble. The car will be equipped with serious eight-cylinder power and a cascade of low-end torque. The automaker could also equip the offering with a smaller six-cylinder which will increase sales volume. The twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine is able to produce between 350 and 520 hp and the eight-cylinder can output 560 hp.
The same platform as in the new Ghibli and Quattroporte will underpin the vehicle. Unlike these models, the new offering will have only rear drive.
While there no GrandCabrio replacement in the works yet, a new convertible for Maserati is originated on the upcoming Alifieri.
