Alfieri EV From Maserati Will Happen
Maserati has officially confirmed that a production variant of the Alfieri concept will be launched.
The producer from Italy also wants to come up with a fully electric variant to compete the next-gen F-type from Jaguar and 911 from Porsche.
After the company has updated the product roadmap, the discussed model was delayed for the end of this decade. At the beginning it was stated that the production version will come in 2018. However, later the company decided to delay the whole thing for 2020.
The producer’s Region Manager (North Europe) has stated that the version with a combustion motor will be prepared for 2019 or even 2020. In his interview with JustAuto Peter Denton stated that an all-electric variant will be launched before the end of 2020.
You will see lots of design cues from the Alfieri concept. The production version is supposed to be bigger that the Boxter/Cayman family from Porsche. The car should ride on a completely new chassis. It should have similar details with the Ghibli sedan.
As in a real sports coupe, the power will be sent to the rear wheels. Back in October, the company’s engineer stated that a FWD offering has been discussed, but the idea probably will not be embodied.
