2.0-litre Ingenium Turbodiesel Engine for Discovery Sport from Land Rover
Land Rover has stated that the Discovery Sport will go on sale with a 2.0-litre V4 Ingenium turbodiesel engine.
The motor will be available on order starting from May in South Korea and Europe. It will be offered in two options. The first one will be 150 hp (or 110 kW) and torque of 380 Nm (or 280 lb-ft). As to the second one, it will be 180 hp (or 132 kW) and torque of 430 Nm (or 318 lb-ft). Choosing the second option you will receive the five-seat automatic offering with 0-62 (or 0-100 km/h) sprint in 8.9 seconds. The Euro 6 compliant Ingenium engine supplies the 150 hp six-speed manual five-seat offering having 57.7 mpg UK (48 mpg US or 4.9 litres / 100 km) economy of fuel. It also has corresponding CO2 emissions (129 g/km).
What is interesting, the automaker will sell this variant of the Discovery Sport with a blue “Sport” sign. It will denote that it is the most economical version from the whole line-up. In order to lessen the consumption of fuel, the car will wear 18-inch alloys wrapped around in special low-rolling resistance tyres. At the same time, the engine calibrations and final drive gearing are adjusted to take out the highest efficiency from the Discovery Sport.
Land Rover reveals that an even thriftier Discovery Sport will enrich the line-up sometime later in 2015. It will be equipped with an Ingenium engine and a front-wheel drive.
