Tech and Design Update for 2017 Kia Forte
Kia has brought changes to the Forte just in time for this year’s NAIAS.
The 2017 Forte has got subtle visual changes. It received a new front bumper with “tiger nose” radiator enclosure. Just like on this year’s Optima, it is connected to headlamps. The rear end features new taillights with optional LED technology.
The refreshed offering will be sold with a new trim level: the sporty S is standing between the range-topping EX cars and the entry-level LX now. It received 16-inch alloys, a rear spoiler, a front-tuned suspension and LED daytime running lights.
All trims will be standard with Drive Mode Select allowing the owner to pick from Eco, Sport or Normal modes. The 2017 Forte will benefit a whole bunch of assistance and safety systems. There will be front collision warning, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane change warning and others among them.
A 2.0-litre Atkinson inline V4 engine will take place of the 1.8 unit. It will probably be joined to a revised 6-speed automatic gear-box or a 6-speed manual. The EX offerings will receive power from another 2.0-litre unit mated to a 6-speed auto gear-box.
According to the automaker, fuel economy numbers and power ratings will be released in several weeks. The details about the 2017 Forte Koup are expected sometime later.
