Recall of 2011-2013 Kia Sorento over Transmission Problem
There was found a transmission issue in the 2011-2013 Kia Sorento. The glitch led to a recall.
After heaving read the recall notice, we came to the conclusion that the crossovers under consideration can roll without a cause while being parked. This can happen if the gearshift lever is pressed too hardly. Then it will result in a crack or chip to the break-shift interlock. The transmission can unexpectedly shift out of park even without pressing brakes. The Korean producer shared that there were 3 injuries, 14 complaints from the clients and 54 warranty claims.
The automaker’s regulatory team started investigating the problem this August after it had received an example of a letter from an attorney. It was written in the letter that the customer’s son got into a 2011 model and shifted the vehicle out of park without pressing the brakes or igniting the car.
Notices about the recall will be sent out on November 24. Dealerships are going to change the issued brake-shift interlock free of charge.
