Genesis Plug-in Hybrids are being developed
Genesis sub-brand of Hyundai is going to offer plug-in hybrids.
The company’s CEO told Automotive News that they are developing plug-in hybrids and some of them will have the form of Genesis side. The automaker is sure that alternative-propulsion engines are gaining their importance. The Korean producer believes that they will become even more important in the high-end market than they are in the main market.
The CEO did not confirm which Genesis offerings will get plug-in versions. We would not be surprised if the tech was offered across the whole line-up. The first Genesis vehicles will be launched for sale in 2016. The G90 is going to replace the Equus and the G80 will take over the Genesis sedan. A somewhat smaller G70 is being developed. Besides, 2 crossovers will have arrived by 2020.
Plug-in hybrid models benefit from relieving range anxiety as they use a petrol motor and maintain serious economy of fuel. Lots of high-end producers sell plug-in hybrids nowadays. There are Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz among them. Audi, Volvo, Infiniti and Cadillac will add their offerings soon as well.
