2014 Honda NSX Super GT Race Model Uncovered
The Honda NSX Super GT race vehicle has been unveiled at Suzuka Raceway, as the teams start testing their models for the 2014 season.
The Japanese company has already announced that it’ll be substituting its HSV-010 GT race model with the NSX in the GT500 class for the 2014 Japanese Super GT Series. Starting with the 2014 season, participants in the GT500 class and all models racing in DTM will use common technical regulations.
While the road vehicle is going to use a V6 hybrid setup and the HSV-010 GT was enhanced by a 3.4-liter V8 motor, the fresh model is enhanced by a mid-motor 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder, paired to a hybrid system.
Notably, the HSV-010 GT was a front-motor, rear-wheel-drive race model and Honda has expressed a desire to run a mid-motor setup for its NSX. The race vehicle is expected to provide about 500 horsepower, similar to the rest of the GT500 field.
