General Motors Offers New Superchargers for Free
Some superchargers installed in ZL1 Camaro and CTS-V from Cadillac turned out to be malfunctioning and General Motors opted to make warranty period longer not to start a serious recall campaign.
Superchargers specifically will be the aim of warranty prolongation in Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles. Issues with these powertrain details have recently been discovered by the parent company. A defect in functioning of the superchargers leads to grease contamination of the bearing shaft. If it occurs, the owner will hear a clatter from the idle engine. In case if the problem is not attended to, it develops into a full-fledged bearing failure with serious harm to the engine.
General Motors states that the change of the supercharger will be conducted for free. Warranty period for the detail has been made longer, and from now on the affected owners who have been driving for 10 years or 120,000 miles are included. Warranty extension covers Camaros of model years 2012 and 2013; Cadillacs have a longer span of four years, starting from 2009. Affected cars have supercharged motors with 6.2-litre displacement.
