Rusting Problems of Ford Escape Details
A range of problems turned out to be serious enough to cause a double recall of more than 400,000 cars combined.
One of the recall focus groups, which is also more numerous, includes SUVs produced in 2001-2004. More than 385,000 vehicles of this category have a fragile subframe which can eventually cause steering problems because of rust. The majority of the affected cars were purchased by American customers living in the area where salt is used in winter to fight the frozen roads.
The second recall is less numerous but more divergent instead. Almost 50,000 Ford vehicles made this and last year fall to this category. The array includes four models, and Escape is accompanied by Fusion, C-MAX and Lincoln MKZ. This time it is not rust but faulty back frames of the seats that cause the recall. The owners of the affected cars live in the USA and Canada.
