Ford Plug-in Models: 60 percents of Trips are Gas Free
Early aggregate stats taken from the MyFord Mobile app demonstrates that Ford plug-in hybrid models are being driven in electric mode just 60 % of the time.
Lately, Ford informed that it had its best hybrid deliveries quarter ever, with many of its plug-in hybrid customers taking advantage of the cars’ 21 miles of gas-free range. MyFord Mobile, which can be downloaded via Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store, demonstrates that cars tied to the app are driven 60 % of the time in electric mode, with an improvement in the figure over the first 30 days of car ownership.
This suggests that customers are basically taking notes from the information provided by the app to enhance their driving experience and saving on gas. Earlier this year, data showed that 41 % of driving time was done in electric mode while data as recent as July 16 show the 60% level. According to the American company, 84 % of one-way trips are distances of 20 miles or less.
Other data uncovered by the app feature the average charge time is 185 min, and noon to 2:00 PM is when most charge station searches are conducted on the app. Around 6-million charging points are found every month via MyFord Mobile.
“Were already seeing just how important MyFord Mobile is, both from a client point of view in terms of day-to-day driving and also from a automaker standpoint,” informed Joe Rork, MyFord Mobile product chief. “We look at the data closely to make decisions about the evolution of MyFord Mobile and the cars themselves.”
