Ford Fusion Energi Gains 5-Star Safety Rate
The 2013 Ford Fusion Energi was given a 5-star Total Car Rate in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
The Energi plug-in model’s 5-star rating is not a surprise taking into consideration the fact that the other Fusion cars also got 5-star safety rates. Nevertheless, NHTSA, decided to test plug-in models aside since the segment of electrified cars is increasing.
Moreover, the 2013 Ford Fusion was awarded a Top Safety Pick+ thanks to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and is evaluated at 108 MPGe.
“The Fusion Energi features top safety rates from NHTSA and exceptional fuel efficiency, two things we know clients are looking for in their cars,” told Steve Kenner, Chief of the Ford Automotive Safety Office. “Our plan is to provide our clients with a range of powertrain options in our cars, while still leading in fuel efficiency in every section that we compete.”
