Disclosing Fords 2016 Focus RS Super Hatchback
Besides all different hot hatchbacks looking really lukewarm, the automaker has recently revealed Focus RS super batch.
Developed together with rally driver and stunt pilot Ken Block, the new vehicle will be equipped with a nonesuch 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged V4 powertrain producing more than 320 hp.
New Ford is based on the identical architecture as the 2.3-litre engine in the new Mustang EcoBoost. Its engine was modified. The engine received a new cylinder head and head gasket along with stronger cast-iron cylinder seals. It also got a less limitative intake and higher-flow tailpipe. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an innovated twin-scroll turbocharger with a more massive compressor and a more massive intercooler.
The automaker has equipped the model with four-wheel drive. It created an innovated setup for the vehicle which can deliver power side-to-side at each axle. The company assures that the vehicle will be able to transfer 70% of the maximum torque to the back wheels. 70% of that will be sent to one back wheel in order to help the RS rotate. The innovated four-wheel drive arrangement will be monitoring the conditions of driving 100 times per second for delivering the best realizable grip.
Raj Nair, the vice president of Ford group Global Product Development shared that the vehicle will perform “class leading cornering” and will “virtually eliminate plowing” which will enable 1 g of cornering force.
Moreover, Nair stated about a feature which will allow the innovated Focus RS to reach “controlled skidding runs”.
In comparison with the Focus ST, the model receives sway bars and stiffer spring rates. It is equipped with 235/35/19 Michelin Pilot Spot tyres. It will be possible for the customers to obtain a more extreme Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyre.
The innovated vehicle will be available both in North America and Europe. To the luck of its enthusiasts, the vehicle will be available with a six-speed manual gear box.
The model will be offered in four different colours: Stealth Grey, Absolute Black, Frozen White and Nitrous Blue.
