2014 Ford Mustang U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Version Revealed
Ford has constructed a unique 2014 Mustang GT “U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Version,” which will be sold on the auction for charity at the Gathering of Eagles meeting on August 1, 2013.
The funds of the sale will go to benefit the EAA Young Eagles organization, which Ford has raised about $2 million for in recent years. The EAA Young Eagles program has offered free introductory flights to more than 1.6-million young people since 1992, helping inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators, and innovators.
Exceptional Mustang GT will boast a VIN of 0001 making it unique and has been upgraded with a creative connection to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. Outside, the Mustang has been coloured white with red and blue accents that connect it with the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Falcon. Body upgrades feature a wide body customization and a handcrafted and painted “belly pan” that follows the F-16 Thunderbird. The Mustang GT will run on special 22-inch Forgiato wheels.
Inside, the US brand has outfitted the custom Mustang GT with an upgraded navigation display, instrument cluster, and rear-seat delete while the vehicle’s Recaro seats have been embroidered with Thunderbirds details. Exceptional sill plates and puddle lamps that project the aircraft’s silhouette finish off the interior enhancements.
A lot of performance upgrades feature a Ford Racing supercharger, suspension handling pack, and Brembo brakes.
“The dedication and excellence shown by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds are qualities we also celebrate at Ford,” informed Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors. “With this year’s marvelous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition Mustang, we’ve captured the recognizable features of their stature and mated it with the innovation our Ford style and engineering teams construct into all of our products.”
