First Ever Little SUV for Chrysler
Covered in the depths of Chrysler’s thrilling IPO filing, the company mentions a “first ever” little SUV.
There is no mention of what that car is called or what brand it will be constructed under, but the document uncovers that it will be based on Fiat’s little wide platform, which nowadays underpins the 500L. It is highly possible that the sub-compact SUV will be built in Italy and will reach markets globally in 2014, featuring sale in the U.S.
This very model will be similar in size to the Ford Fiesta. Sub-compact SUVs are proving to be profitable sellers in the global market. Ford informed in August that it will sell its Fiesta-based EcoSport crossover in 62 countries by 2017, although U.S. customers will be left out.
When the brand-new Jeep product arrives, it will be the 2nd product under that brand to share underpinnings with a Fiat product. The 1st is Jeep’s fresh Cherokee, which uses a brand-new 9-speed automatic transmission and should appear soon.
