Fiat 500X is an Italian Styled Compact Crossover
A compact crossover with name 500X is being created by Fiat which is trying to make a bigger variant of 500.
The Fiat 500X has 167 inches in length and 63 inches in height. Roughly, it features the size of Chevrolet Trax, though its loading area is only 12.4 cubic feet. One of the two produced versions will be dedicated to urban life and the other one will satisfy off-road demands.
Alike the new Chrysler 200, the 4WD system of the 500X will be able to decouple the back half of the timing chain when extra adhesive power is not needed for fuel saving. A regular crossover Drive Mood Selector will be able to adjust brakes, powertrain, steering and gearing through 3 different modes. All 500X variants will have Sport and Auto modes and the city based variants will have an All Weather mode which will sustain the off-road variant’s Traction Plus.
Different powertrains will be shown off at launch. The model is being sold in more than 100 countries. A 1.40-liter supercharged MultiAir V4 will have an option of front-wheel or 4WD. It will be able to produce either 140 hp or 170 hp what will depend on application. As to the front-wheel drive variants, the small turbo can be supplied with a six-speed hand control or dual-clutch automatic gear box of six-speeds. In the same time, four-wheel drive versions will have a 1.4-liter powertrain coming along with the Fiat Chrysler’s automatic gear box of nine speeds.
Also a pair of normally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrains producing 140 hp and the powerful 2.4-liter Tigershark engine producing 184 hp will be available. The powertrains can be exceptionally paired to 4WD variants. There is no information about which of the combinations will be sold in the U.S., but most of them are supposed to be available across the ocean.
