2015 500 Abarth by Fiat to Get Automatic Transmission in US

Six speeds and automatic gearbox will come optionally for US-only 500 Abarth from Fiat of 2015 model year.

Abarth is following the steps of regular modification of 500 for the next model year with its six-speed offering. Apart from the saloon version a cabriolet body type will also be available. Engine is carryover, turbo and compact for 157 bhp and torque of 183 lb-ft. Addition of an automatic transmission for six speeds will mean more effective heat treatment opening possibilities for better torque output.

A lot of performance enhancements are going to be added to the model. Sport mode will show the best performance figures as well as a more engaging pedal map.

Saloon and cabriolet versions of American-only Fiat 500 Abarth will head to Mexican assembly lines this week. By autumn first batches will hit the dealerships.
