Ram Launches the 1500 Express for 2026: Affordable and Stylish
Ram encountered challenges when introducing the refreshed 1500 for the 2025 model year. The absence of lower-tier trims forced customers to choose between trucks priced around $70,000 or opting for used models. This situation led Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis to admit that the company faced significant setbacks.
Addressing this issue, Ram introduces a new trim for 2026 that caters to budget-conscious buyers. While the Tradesman remains the base model, the 1500 Express is priced just slightly higher, positioned below the Big Horn. The Express trim stands out with its 20-inch wheels and a sleek, single-color exterior. Features include body-colored bumpers, minimal badges, and a grille with a black surround. Buyers can choose from five colors: Bright White, Granite Crystal, Forged Blue, Hydro Blue, and Diamond Black.
Starting at $44,495, inclusive of Ram's $2,095 destination fee, the 1500 Express offers competitive pricing compared to the 2025 Big Horn, which begins at $47,030.
For the base model, the 1500 Express comes as a Quad-Cab with two-wheel drive and the standard 20-inch wheels. It is equipped with a 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine, with an option to upgrade to a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six for an additional $1,695. This upgrade brings the total to $46,190 for a 420-hp Ram 1500 on 20-inch wheels, featuring a range of driver-assist technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Enhanced Styling Options
For those looking to add more flair, Ram reintroduces the Black Express package. Previously available in 2019, this $995 upgrade includes black-painted wheels and badges, side steps, LED driving lamps, a sportier hood, and an updated interior with cloth bucket seats and a floor console.
