Citroen wants to return the C6 Moniker in China
According to the reports, Citroen will return the C6 moniker to its range along with the new offering. It will be sold only in China.
Worldscoop assures that the first prototype of the car has been gathered together last November. Its codename is X81. The car is said to be based on PSA’s EMP2 chassis. It will receive power from 1.8- and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol units. A hybrid powerplant is also being considered, but only after the launch.
The new C6 will resemble the Citroen Metropolis concept revealed almost 6 years ago in Shanghai. We remind you that it had a shorter wheelbase and toned down front end. The production offering will be made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture (China). The sales will kick off at the end of this year. The official debut is expected in the 3rd quarter of 2016.
DS Automobiles will probably present a C6-based flagship offering with the DS9 name. It is going to be a more upmarket car. The model will be gathered together by the Changan-PSA joint venture that manufactures DS cars. The launch day is not known. The reports suggest that the new Numero 9 concept-based offering will come out in 2017.
