Zoom rises price of the Z28
The Camaro Z28: bigger engine and higher price, that means less sales but more zoom.
Even though auto brands are trying to reach the maximal fuel-economy, speed still plays a great part. The example of witness is Chevrolet Camaro Z28.
Mark Reuss, chief of General Motors North America, told that he and GM product head Mary Barra were trying to decide which engine to put in the Z28. The versions were the 6.2-liter V-8 equipped in the current base Corvette or the 7.0-liter V-8 equipped in the Corvette Z06.
The bigger V-8 was chosen, Reuss announced at the New York auto show.
He said GM might sell more Camaros with the cheaper engine. But the way Reuss and Barra decided that those sales weren't worth sacrificing the Z28's power, which Reuss thinks could result in future for a Camaro.
The productivity of Z28: 500 hp and 470 pounds-feet of torque. It will bring up the Camaro lineup when it arrives in the beginning of 2014. The price wasn't revealed.
Reuss also added: "Let's remember what we're trying to do with this vehicle."
