Chevrolet has shown Next Year's COPO Camaro at SEMA
Chevrolet has shown the next year’s COPO Camaro at Specialty Equipment Market Association.
The race vehicle was created specially for drag racing. The car was chosen to compete in NHRA Stock and Super Stock Eliminator classes.
The vehicle boasts an adjustable front suspension and coilovers. Besides, it received a solid rear axle along with an aluminium section. This section has 40-spline gun-drilled jack shafts and a spool-type differential. The car rides on a race-spec chassis and with special braking system. Its fuel cell got an integrated fuel injection pump. The COPO Camaro was shown with wheelie bars, lightweight Weld wheels, Goodyear tyres wrapped around them and a parachute.
The car will be offered with a vast range of engines. A 5.7-litre supercharged eight-cylinder unit, a 6.2-litre eight-cylinder mill and a 7.0-litre eight-cylinder motor are among them.
The SEMA show vehicle was created with the help of Funny Car driver Courtney Force. The model’s exterior is Red Hot. It features red radiator enclosure inserts, a carbon fibber hood and special graphics. Besides, it takes pride in its 5-point safety harness, racing seats and a chrome-moly antiroll cage. We saw a competition switch panel, racing gauges and a concept 350 racing engine equipped with a Whipple 2.9-litre supercharger.
The automaker will produce 69 models for the next year. The SEMA show vehicle will be sold at auction at a Barrett-Jackson sale in 2016. The proceeds from the auction will be sent to the United Way.
