Audi will reveal its TDI V8 in April
The Dieselgate scandal has shaken reputation of Audi. However, the automaker continues to build diesel engines. The latest report suggests that several new TDI items are being developed.
Car & Driver indicates that the company will apply the Vienna Motor Symposium to present an innovated TDI eight-cylinder unit. The engine will be used in the next-gen A8 and replace the current 4.2-litre TDI eight-cylinder. According to the report, it will push out 200 hp and torque of 500 pound-feet. The current motor outputs 380 hp and torque of ... 626 lb-ft!
The motor will allow the A8 accelerating from 0-62 mpg in almost 4 seconds.
After premiering in the A8, the engine might be used in lots of different offerings along with the Porsche Panamera, Bentley Continental GT and Audi Q7.
The automaker will also present a 3.0-litre biturbo TDI six-cylinder engine featuring an electric supercharger. It was previewed in the RS5 TDI concept. It was able to produce 380 hp and torque of 553 lb-ft.
