Audi RS7 to Embrace Hybrid Power: New Generation Ditches V-8 for V-6
Audi RS7 Goes Green
Audi is making a bold move with the next generation of RS7 by replacing its powerful V-8 engine with a hybrid V-6. This shift towards a greener powertrain reflects Audi's commitment to sustainability and reducing emissions.
Increased Horsepower
Although the RS7 is downsizing from a V-8 to a V-6, it doesn't mean a loss of power. According to reports, the hybrid RS7 will generate an impressive 725 horsepower, surpassing the current model's 621-hp rating. The use of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, along with advanced batteries and electric motors, could push the horsepower even higher. There are even rumors of RS7 Performance versions reaching up to 800 hp with temporary boost functions.
Unknown Powertrain Details
While specific details about the plug-in hybrid powertrain are still unknown, it is expected to incorporate multiple motors with Audi's 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. There are also speculations that it will offer some electric-only range, further enhancing its eco-friendly appeal. Unfortunately, Audi has yet to comment on the upcoming car, leaving enthusiasts to speculate.
Transitioning to Electrification
The introduction of the hybrid RS7 is part of Audi's wider strategy to incorporate electric models into its lineup. The current A6 will become the A7, making way for the all-electric A6 E-Tron. Similarly, the RS6 Avant will transform into the RS7 Avant, leaving some mystery surrounding the sedan and liftback versions. However, Audi enthusiasts won't have to wait much longer, as the debut of the new RS7 is expected to happen by the end of this year.
