Audi Planning Strong Push into EV Market
Audi says that it will provide 3 distinct EVs by 2020.
These will be 2 crossovers and 3rd one will be a compact vehicle. The cars will join an ever-expanding range of plug-in SUVs. The 1st car has been already confirmed by the automaker. It will be the e-tron SUV. You will see it on the market in 2018 with a 300-mile range. The company wants to take on Model X from Tesla with its high-end e-SUV.
The 2nd vehicle will wear the name e-tron Sportback. Just like the Q8, it will be a combination of a high driving position and coupe-like design. You will see this car in 2 years. The producer wants to use VW’s MEB platform to make a compact EV of its own. The launch will be in 2020. The vehicle will be up to 370 miles per charge.
Audi will continue with the electric vehicles and add an EV version to every core model. Originated on the core cars, the vehicles will have EV-specific styling cues to tell them from the other cars. The producer considers that electric cars will make up 1/3 of its overall sales by 2025.
