Alfa Romeo Spider (IT Miata) will Provide 168-HP
Much like the fresh Alfa Romeo4C, the approaching Alfa Romeo Spider will sport a modern style mated with a lightweight body when it arrives the market in late 2015.
The Alfa Romeo Spider will be the Italian company’s variant of the sports vehicle it is jointly working on withMazda. That means it will be constructed on the next-gen Mazda MX-5 platform and will be constructed in Japan. As for its style, it’s close to being signed off and is created by Marco Tencone, head designer at Alfa Romeo and Maserati.
Tencone is also responsible for the Alfa Romeo 4C’s style, so Alfa Romeo Spider will be probably similar in terms of being modern in design and not retro. It’s remarkable that Pininfarina, which created the 2010 Duettotanta model is not involved with the Spider’s creation. The vehicle is expected to be around 13-feet long and 5.5-feet wide and will be lightweight at approximately 2,400 lbs.
Talking about the power under the hood, the Alfa Romeo Spider will have the same 1.4-liter TB MultiAir motor found in the Giulietta, but the more powerful 168 horsepower version. It will be paired to a 6-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.
