Tesla Model S Wants to Win This Year's Pikes Peak Hill Climb

The Tesla Model S will take part in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for the first time in 2016.

Blake Fuller will drive the vehicle. The competition will not be a factory-spec one. Fuller has come up with an innovated battery. It is 80% lighter than the unit from the factory. Blake’s goal is to set the new record. He wants to break the 13-minute record in the Electric Production class. That is why he is using a smaller battery.

Other information about the vehicle is concealed. EVs are becoming very popular at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Rhys Millen was the 1st winner in a fully-electric vehicle in 2015. He broke a record time for battery-powered vehicles (9:07.222).
